Grace In Small Things

1. Afternoons off
2. Hats with ear flaps
3. Chilli lemon flavoured crisps
4. Getting your teeth into a project

Projects Update
On the 101 in 1001 side of things, I have crossed two more off my list.
28. Find and shoot film for both my old cameras Completed 2010
Actually, I only managed to find film for the Fuji Instax 200, but I sold my Becini Comet and threw away the Kodak Instamatic that I bought for £3 in the charity shop because really, I was never going to use it.
Books, Books & More Books
The delectable Miss Marks monitored how many books she’s read last year and racked up a whopping 140. I’m a bit of a vorocious reader, and she’s inspired me to do the same this year.

I am always thankful to have a local library – without which I’d probably have to choose between books and buying food, in which case I would always be starving.
I’ve added my list to the top tab bar, above, and plan to do a monthly round up for any new additions.
If you have any recommendations, feel free to leave a comment – and if you want me send me any books then all donations are gratefully received

Catch Up
I have a batch of gingerbread dough in the fridge chilling, and a saucepan of chunked cooking apple on the stove, waiting to be turned into delicous apple sauce to accompany tonight’s roast pork. It’s a little domesticated, but since domesticated is a hat I can wear well, that’s okay by me.
Last night was Anna’s last in Cornwall for the time being, bringing my friends total down to a measly two (or losing 33% if you like to be maths geek about it), so we sent her off in traditional fashion of playing one of the weird board games in the local pub. We ended up playing scruples, with questions such are “you are having an affair, and don’t feel like going to work. Do you call in sick?” and “you are in a night-club [sic] and see a handsome young man, dressed to the “nines”. His shirt tail is sticking out, do you tell him?”
Some of the questions were beyond hilarious (I wasn’t drinking but I can imagine the pints of beer that Jeff and Anna consumed only helped to heighten the sense of what the fuckedness about the whole thing.)
I’m sad to see her go, and not just because it brings my friend quotient down so drastically. At least I can console myself with that fact that London is around the corner, timeline if not distance wise, and I’ll soon be able to hang out whenever I damn well please. I can’t wait.
101 in 1001 Update
Plus a general life update, I guess. But first, the list.
Completed since I last updated in October 2009:
49. Finish my 365 project
There were several times when I didn’t make it to the end of this project. So glad I did.
Failed Goals:
41. Make packed lunches for Chris and I every day for a month
45. Post at least once a week to www.exquisitefunction.com for a year
Life has changed quite a bit since we last conversed. Chris and I split up after three years together, and I am currently in a state of limbo – half my belongs here with me in my parents house, half still in the house in Cambridge. I quit both my jobs, and have a new job in Cornwal that starts on Tuesday – I don’t know what it’s going to be like but I do know that it will be temporary.
The overall plan is to save some money and then move to London. Much as I love my family, and the opportunity to spend some extended time with them, Cornwall is not my home. It’s strange to say, since I was born here, and grew up here, but the years away have taught me that – I do not want to live here again. My friends here are sparse, the job situation and money situation is poor, and housing is non existant.
I am too young to get stuck in this never ending rut of work-pay bills-work-pay bills. I want to live my life. Being in Cambridge with Chris wasn’t stopping me from doing that, but being in Cornwall will.
So, onwards and upwards.

Oh Dear
Oh dear, it’s been a month again and I’ve all but disappeared on you guys. It’s been hectic at Mia towers of late, but hopefully once Christmas starts to appear it will slow down and I’ll have more time to coherently place my thoughts to paper. (Well, not paper, obviously. But you know what I mean).
See you in a couple of weeks, lovely people.
Grace In Small Things – The London Edition
I went to London with Aaron yesterday, so I thought I’d do a Grace in Small Things dedicated to that today
I guess this more a list of nice/funny moments, rather than particular things, but hey it’s my life, so I figure I can do whatever the hell I like
1. Taking photos in the Tate and being told off. Rebel!
2. Sushi that wasn’t supposed to be chicken, but was.
3. Ridiculously large paper flowers
4. Trees with graffiti & the fattest pigeons in the world
5. Walls covered in snooker table felt
I would really recommend going to see the Pop Life exhibition that’s currently on at the Tate Modern if you can, it’s a lot of fun
101 in 1001 – October Update
Completed Goals:
27. Donate clothes I know I will never wear – finally clearing out all the old stuff I know I’ll never fit into again, or just plain don’t like anymore. No more baggage!
70. Keep on top of the washing – We have a new system, and it’s working well, so I’m going to consider this one done.
61. Do something memorable for my birthday – I did this actually, the trip to London is burnt into my brain, hehe. Next year I might try something a little different tho
38. Buy new perfume - Paul Smith Women. Mm.
42. No fizzy drinks for a month - I’m pretty sure I lasted longer than a month, and I actually don’t enjoy fizzy drinks that much anymore. Result.
68. Get 50+ views on at least 200 of my 365 portraits on flickr – this is completed and I am so glad!
86. Clear up my acne – you know what, I think I’m going to mark this done, because altho my skin isn’t clear, I definitely no longer have acne. Result!
That’s it for October, but there will be more coming soon
Sorry Kidlets
Hey kids! I’m sorry I’ve not been around, I’m sure the three of you who have this on google reader have really missed me
I don’t have a good excuse really, just a myriad of bad ones. The laptop I’m using is incredibly slow, I work two jobs, I’ve been knitting lately and I’m just kinda tired.
But, I promise I’ll be better. Not starting right now, because I’m about to watch a film, but soon
In other news, I had all my hair cut off, and I LOVE IT.
